The company’s peer-to-peer platform, Trevo, will continue operating as usual.

From 15 August, users would no longer be able top up their SOCAR Wallets, though existing balances can still be spent before the end of August . Any leftover funds will be refunded or transferred over to a Trevo account, with the official refund process kicking off from 1 September. SOCAR says instructions on how to claim refunds will be shared through its official channels closer to that date.

In a statement, the company said new subscription purchases are no longer available, and that existing subscriptions will be discontinued as part of the closure.

SOCAR first launched in Malaysia back in 2018 through a partnership with SK Inc. The Korean company recently bought out all of its financial investors’ stakes in the Malaysian unit after the business failed to hit its public listing targets, reportedly as part of a $6 million debt restructuring.

If you’ve still got funds sitting in your SOCAR Wallet, now’s the time to use them up before the service disappears for good.
