Malaysia has a new telco player in town. BeONE Mobile, a community-focused Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) powered by the Maxis network, held its official launch ceremony on 28 September 2026, officiated by YB Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysia’s Minister of Communications.
The event was attended by Goh Seow Eng, CEO of Maxis, and BeONE Mobile CEO Ameen Amaendran, alongside VIP guests, strategic partners, media and the e-hailing community.
From BeONE Prepaid to BeONE Mobile
BeONE Mobile has been around longer than the name suggests. Originally launched in 2021 as BeONE Prepaid on the RedONE network, the company made the move to Maxis on 30 January 2026, relaunching as a fully independent MVNO with a new identity and expanded ambitions.
Built Around Community
What sets BeONE Mobile apart from most telcos is its agent-driven approach. Rather than relying solely on traditional retail channels, BeONE recruits local agents — particularly from the B40 community, gig workers and small traders — to bring in customers and provide on-the-ground support. Agents are paid daily incentives, making it a side income opportunity as much as a telco play.
The company has also rolled out a Community SIM Initiative in Lembah Pantai, giving local residents access to a BeONE SIM with additional data, and an eHailing Entrepreneurship Programme that lets ride-hailing drivers sign up as agents without giving up their existing work.
Plans and Pricing
BeONE Mobile’s prepaid lineup is straightforward and data-generous, with speeds of up to 1,000Mbps and data sharing across all monthly plans. Customers porting in their existing number can choose from RM25/month (150GB), RM38/month (350GB) or RM48/month (500GB with 50GB roaming in Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore). Those taking a new number start from RM30/month. Daily and weekly passes are also available for lighter users.
