The wait is over. “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend”, the first chapter of director Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part epic, opened worldwide on 5 November 2026. It is one of the biggest Indian films ever released, and Sony Pictures is taking it to around 50,000 screens outside India.

To mark the release in Malaysia, Sony Pictures Malaysia hosted a Celebration of Lights, Colours & Sound at TGV Suria KLCC on opening night. Guests arrived in vibrant Deepavali attire and were welcomed by a colourful kolam of the movie poster, then sat down to an Indian buffet dinner at TGV Indulge.

At 8pm the lobby became a stage. A live veena performance was followed by a classical Indian dance in front of the giant Ramayana screen, drawing a crowd of guests with their phones out to capture the moment.

The evening ended with a screening in IMAX 3D. The film was shot for IMAX, and it’s the best way to take in a story of this scale.
