PJ Comedy Fest 2026 is an inaugural five-day multi-language comedy festival happening from 29 July to 2 August 2026 at The Square, Jaya One — and it’s bringing together some of Malaysia’s biggest comedy names and rising stars under one roof.

Presented by DeStage in collaboration with Joanne Kam’s Kam Productions, the festival features 29 comedians and 11 young performers across nine productions, with performances in English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and Tamil. It is the first major showcase under DeStage’s stewardship of The Square — a venue that has been a cornerstone of Malaysia’s live comedy and performing arts scene since 2009, having hosted the likes of Harith Iskander, Joanne Kam, Douglas Lim and Kavin Jay over the years.

A New Chapter for a Beloved Venue

For more than a decade, The Square at Jaya One has been one of PJ’s most beloved live performance destinations. Like many venues, it went through a tough period during the pandemic — pivoting to seminars, private functions and community gatherings to keep the doors open. Now, under DeStage’s creative direction, the venue is entering a bold new era with upgraded facilities, a brand-new LED stage backdrop, and a packed calendar of live entertainment, comedy, theatre, music and cultural programming.

Supporting the transformation is an integrated entertainment ecosystem that includes AFO Radio as the media and artist engagement partner, and CSS Solutions Platform for commercial partnerships and event support — creating a sustainable foundation for live entertainment to thrive at The Square for years to come.

The Lineup

The headline attraction is the Comedy Gala, featuring an all-star cast of Joanne Kam, Shamaine Othman, Kavin Jay, Andrew Netto, Papi Zak, Fattah Azeem, Ruoh Peng and Mad Sabah.

Beyond the Gala, the full festival lineup includes Kuah Jenhan, Farid Azmeir, K-Shao, Jasmine Rajah, Brian Tan, Prakash Daniel, Keren Bala Devan and the acclaimed Pinball Monkeys improv troupe — covering everything from stand-up and improv to storytelling and theatrical performances across DeStage’s Studio and Main Theatre Hall spaces.

The festival also makes room for the next generation, providing a platform for emerging performers and young talents alongside the established names. And to round things off on a family-friendly note, the festival closes with a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by EM Drama — so there’s something for everyone, regardless of age.

Beyond the Stage

The experience doesn’t end when the curtain falls. Rockafellers, The Square’s F&B and entertainment anchor, will be running live performances, themed nights, happy hour promotions, ladies’ nights, music bingo sessions and free-flow cocktail experiences throughout the festival period.

And if you’re heading to a show, ticket holders get an exclusive 15% discount on à la carte food at Rockafellers — so you can laugh your way through the show and eat well after.
